GHS Bump Up Day

By Jack Ferris on May 18, 2023

This Friday at Grafton High School will be bump up day. All the eighth graders from Taylor County Middle School will come to the high school since they will attend next year. This allows the kids to get a little bit familiar with the school and not make them feel so uncomfortable on the first day of high school. There is also a lot of games, activities, and vendors near the football field for the high school students and middle school students. It is a great day and an awesome idea that was started by GHS alumnus Jason Gainer.

The TCMS students will arrive around 10:15, attend a meeting in the auditorium, tour the high school, and then eat lunch. GHS students will still attend all classes, but they will be shortened. The soon to be high schoolers will eat lunch and share the cafeteria with the 5th period lunch students. After 5th period is when the fun begins, starting at 12:20 everybody will go down to the field and be able to do whatever they would like. There are lots of activities and games to play, like last year there were relay races, whiffle ball, football, soccer, and more. Then after playing some games, you can go get something to drink or eat.
